The last round of talks between Serbia and Kosovo ended with no progress, which disappointed the U.S. Department of State.

A U.S. Department of State spokesperson stressed in a statement to Radio Free Europe that the country expects the parties to treat their responsibilities resulting from the agreement on the normalization of relations seriously, including the creation of the association of municipalities with a majority of Serbian citizens.

“Time is ebbing away. We desire advancements with respect to both current and past commitments, such as the founding of the Association of Serbian-majority municipalities. Regarding the next steps, we will confer both internally and with our European partners,” the spokeswoman said in the statement.

For Kosovo and Serbia, he believes that the only path ahead is negotiation aided by the EU.
