The list of judges and prosecutors who have expressed interest in serving on the High Judicial Council and have submitted the necessary documentation has been published.
In addition, the procedure for expressing interest in candidates for the High Prosecutorial Council has ended, with seven candidates competing for three vacant positions.
PROSECUTORS RUNNING IN THE RACE
Prosecutors from the General Jurisdiction First Instance Prosecution Offices and the Prosecution Office near the Court of Appeals expressed interest and submitted the required documentation at the end of the legal deadline for expressing interest in candidates for the High Prosecutorial Council, as follows:
Mr. Moisi Duda, prosecutor at the General Jurisdiction Court of Appeals’ Prosecution Office;
Mrs. Afrdita Ndoi, prosecutor at the General Jurisdiction Court of Appeals’ Prosecution Office;
Mrs. Edina Kurti, prosecutor at the Durrs General Jurisdiction First Instance Prosecution Office;
Mrs. Edlira Bako, prosecutor at the Prosecution Office in Elbasan, close to the General Jurisdiction First Instance Court;
Mrs. Elsa Miha is a prosecutor at Tirana’s General Jurisdiction First Instance Prosecution Office.
Mr. Olgert Eminaj, prosecutor at the Prosecution Office in Korç, close to the General Jurisdiction First Instance Court; and
Mr. Vat Staka, prosecutor at the Shkodr Prosecution Office, General Jurisdiction First Instance Court.
Two of the three vacancies on the High Prosecutorial Council may be filled by first-instance prosecutors, and one by a prosecutor from the Prosecution Office near the General Jurisdiction Court of Appeals.
Within seven days of the deadline for submitting requests and supporting documentation, the General Prosecution Office will verify the legal conditions and announce the candidacies on the official website.
JUDGES IN THE RACE
Meanwhile, the High Court’s press office has published a list of judges who have expressed interest and submitted the necessary documentation for candidacy in the High Judicial Council.
Following the deadline for expressing interest in candidates for the High Judicial Council, declared by the High Court on July 24, 2023, for the selection of two judges from the ranks of first-instance judges and one judge from the ranks of appellate judges, based on Law 115/2016 “On the Governance of the Justice System,” until September 4, 2023, the following judges have expressed interest and submitted the required documentation:
- Emona Muçi – Tirana Court of Appeals
- Irida Kacerja – Tirana Court of Appeals
- Alma Kodraliu – Tirana General Jurisdiction First Instance Court
- Gentjana Muçaj – Tirana Administrative Court of First Instance
- Markelian Koça – Durrs General Jurisdiction First Instance Court
