
After nearly two years at the helm of the Ministry of Finance and Economy (Ibrahimaj was appointed in September 2021), Ervin Mete, formerly the General Executive Director of the Financial Supervisory Authority, has replaced her.
Mete has been the director of the FSA since May 2020, having previously served as the FSA Board’s chairman.
Ervin Mete has a Master’s degree in corporate law from Harvard University in the United States and a Master’s degree in fiscal law from the London School of Economics. From 2013 to 2017, he served as Deputy Minister of Finance and Deputy Minister of Economy.
He was responsible for fiscal policy and economic development in these capacities. Mete participated in the reform of public finance administration and the modernization of the fiscal and financial legal framework during this time period.
The new Minister Mete was the National Coordinator for the “Economic Reform Program with the European Union” and chaired the high-level group between the Government and the Bank of Albania for reducing nonperforming loans in the banking sector.
In addition, he served as the Prime Minister’s Economic and Financial Advisor from May 2017 to October 2017.
