The designated ambassador, Luigi Soreca, met with the European Union delegation today and promptly began his duties until the new ambassador’s arrival. Soreca described his return to Tirana as a privilege, as he viewed it as a pivotal juncture in Albania’s journey toward the European family.
“It is an honor and a privilege to return to Tirana at this crucial time for EU enlargement and Albania’s EU integration, coinciding with the impending Berlin Process Summit in Tirana. “The EU stands by Albania to consolidate the gains made, deepen the country’s transformation, and push for major reforms that will bring Albania into the EU,” the ambassador stated.
The diplomat assumes this position following the departure of Christine Hohmann, who departed the EU diplomatic service to rejoin Berlin’s diplomatic mission in Iraq. Soreca, who served as an ambassador in our country for three years and seven months, returned to Tirana with invaluable diplomatic experience. He arrived in September of 2018 and departed in April of 2022.
