Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated today that the European Union’s punitive sanctions against Kosovo should be lifted as soon as feasible.
He claimed that Kosovo should be recognized by the EU due to its economic and democratic growth.
“Agreement has been reached between Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi and EU envoy Laják, but their agreement in Bratislava should become the EU’s position. We believe that because of its economic and democratic progress, Kosovo should be granted EU recognition without any punitive penalties. Of course, the sooner such a decision is reached, the better for everyone,” he added.
The European Union stated on Saturday (July 1st) that punitive measures imposed on Kosovo had gone into effect. The EULEX mission and the IPA finance program have been suspended, according to the EU.
