The Court of Appeals has ordered the detention in prison of Milena Deraj, former employee of the Bank of Albania, who was arrested on May 24 on suspicion of defrauding the Ferracaku family for a sum of 340,000 euros.

Deraj has submitted a notarial statement acknowledging that she recognized the debt owed to the Ferracaku family, but she claims that she owes them less and did not acquire the money through deception.

According to her, out of the 340,000 euros she received to help the accused avoid a life sentence for the Velipoja massacre, she actually owes 225,000 euros.

The defendant explains that she has a debt of 225,000 euros to the Ferracaku family, not 340,000 euros.
