Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has asked for the withdrawal of Kosovo Police special units from the north of the country, as well as the mayors of Albanian-majority municipalities.

Vucic made the remarks during a meeting with the ambassadors of the Quint countries: the US, the UK, France, Germany, and Italy.

“I hope you can persuade Kurti to withdraw his forces and personal mayors from the north,” Vucic declared in a statement released by his office.

Milosh Vucevic, Serbia’s Defense Minister, and Miljan Mojsilovic, Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, also attended the conference.

Vucic further stressed that Serbia will continue to speak with KFOR representatives in Kosovo “with the utmost trust in order to maintain peace and stability.”

The president offers his condolences for the injured KFOR soldiers, but adds that a significantly higher number of Serbs were hurt and that guns and disproportionate physical force were used against them, notwithstanding their early nonviolent resistance.
