The election for the mayor of Mallakastër has completed, and the Socialist Party’s candidate, Qerim Ismailaj, has been proclaimed the winner.
He received 5,967 votes, 367 more than Agron Kapllanaj, the Democratic Party candidate led by Enkelejd Alibeaj, who received 5,600 votes.
Resmi Shanaj, the candidate of the “Together We Win” group, finished third with 724 votes. This is one of the cases where the Democratic Party’s split with two candidates in various towns has also resulted in defeat, as Shanaj’s votes would have been enough for Kapllanaj to win the campaign and reclaim his position as Mayor of Mallakastër.
