Tourism has gotten off to a “good start” this year, and the figures point to an even better season than last.
According to data from the Institute of Statistics, more than 1 million foreigners entered the nation in the first three months of the year, up from around 670 thousand in the same period in 2022.
According to INSTAT data, the majority of them came from European countries, followed by America and East Asia.
Spain has confirmed increased numbers by launching organized tourism, whereas Italy has seen a rise in individual travelers. Even in Poland, which is the country’s largest source of organized tourism, there is a rise in bookings in comparison to past contracts with guarantees.
The vast majority of them, over 993,000, stated that they came to Albania for vacation or to see relatives. There has also been an increase in the number of foreigners visiting Albania as a transit destination, followed by those visiting for business, health, or religious reasons.
On the other hand, there has been an increase in the number of Albanian citizens leaving the country between January and March. According to the figures, about 1.4 million Albanians have left for nations in the region, Europe, or America, an increase of more than 32% from the previous year.
