During his official visit to NATO headquarters, the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, asked the Alliance to include Kosovo as a member. The request was made to the Secretary-General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, calling Kosovo a value for the military Alliance.

“Kosovo has been a sovereign nation for 15 years and it has been working diligently to establish a state based on the rule of law with a distinct Euro-Atlantic vision. Kosovo’s path toward membership in international and regional organizations, including NATO, is supported by Albania. It would benefit the Alliance “Begaj stated.

Whether or not it is a member of NATO, the military alliance is present in Kosovo to provide peace and security, according to Stoltenberg, who is advocating for the success of the deal brokered by the European Union.

“It is crucial that all parties exhibit adaptability and a readiness to make concessions. Respect for human rights, democratic principles, the rule of law, internal reforms, and good neighbor relations must all be included in any solution. NATO is present in Kosovo, we are concerned about the situation there, and we are in favor of the discussion between Belgrade and Pristina that is being facilitated by the European Union “Stoltenberg stated.

Begaj and Stoltenberg spoke about and denounced Russia’s aggression in Ukraine during the press conference.
