Sali Berisha called a meeting of the party’s leadership a few days before the July 7 protest to discuss organizational arrangements. The Democratic Party chairman emphasized that this is not simply a protest by the Democratic Party, but by the persons who defined it as the front for Albania’s rescue, which includes all opposition parties and civil society organizations.
“The DP will participate in this demonstration with a broad coalition of civil society, public figures, and genuine opposition parliamentary and extra-parliamentary political organizations. What I urge is that we intensify our efforts for this protest to express all of our key worries, big difficulties, and there is no doubt that the fundamental problem is a noose around the throats of Albanians that is tightening every day due to skyrocketing prices.”
