Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania, and Olta Xhaçka, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, are on an official visit to the United States. They met with UN Secretary General António Guterres, with whom they discussed the program and priorities of Albania’s Security Council presidency at the UN leadership table, as well as their willingness to contribute to the service of peace and security, human rights, and sustainable international development.

Rama is in the United States for an official visit, as Albania holds the presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the first time in June. Meanwhile, Albania has become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the year 2022-2023, taking over the role of co-host with the United States on the subject of Ukraine.
