According to the Competition Authority, it has begun to monitor the market following information received on price increases by companies that offer hotel service or other similar accommodations in the city of Tirana, in the context of the Conference League final match, Roma-Feyenoord, which will take place in Tirana on May 25, 2022.
“In comparison to other times of the year, relatively high pricing were detected for the dates 23-25 May 2022, based on monitoring of online platforms that offer accommodation reservations as well as field monitoring.” The Competition Authority requests that companies that provide accommodation services in hotels and similar accommodations in Tirana: – provide services at reasonable prices, cost-oriented; and “not cancel early bookings in order to resell at the last minute at several times higher prices,” according to a press release from the Authority.
“The Competition Authority informs the companies that provide hotel accommodation service and similar accommodation in the city of Tirana that, if the investigation concludes that the immediate and unjustified increase in the price of hotel accommodation service and similar accommodations is found to be in violation of the provisions of Law No. 9121/2003 “On Protection of Competition,” violators of the law will face fines of up to 10%.
