The end-of-year holidays have increased interest in booking with Albanians wanting to vacation abroad and foreigners to come here, but the new Omicron variant of Covid-19 is turning into an obstacle. Tour operators say the countries of the region are remaining the preferred destinations for Albanians.
This year, the country is being visited by traditional tourists from Kosovo and northern Macedonia, but there are also Serbs.
However, tour operators complain that this year there is a lack of bookings from Eastern European vacationers.
In addition to the risk of border closures as a result of the pandemic, tour operators say there is a lack of offers to lure tourists this season. Meanwhile, rising prices further penalize the sector.
