Today, on July 1st, 2021, the Western Balkan countries start implementing the free roaming agreement.
Cell phone users will communicate from these countries with the same fees they use in their original countries.
The agreement was signed in Belgrade, on April 4th. Telecommunication operators will have the right to apply additional fees. According to AKEP, the three cell phone operators in Albania have already submitted the fees that will need to be implemented.
Albanian citizens will benefit most from this agreement, due to the higher cost that have had so far.
Based on the agreement, the roaming fees must not be higher than 0.19 EUR per minute, 0.06 EUR per SMS, and 0.18 per MB. This means that the Albanian citizens will save ten fold.
