The Constitutional Court reacted regarding their decision to ask for an opinion from the Venice Commission regarding the local elections of June 30th, 2019.
According to the Constitutional Court, the object and the case for which they asked an opinion are different from the cases discussed before.
The Constitutional Court adds that the case on the local elections of June 30th, 2019, is of a unique nature. Hence, the Court saw it necessary to consult more specialized institutions.
“The Court finds that the unconstructive debate of recent days not only does not serve this climate of trust, but on the contrary, can be perceived as an attempt to involve it in political debates, by prejudging the decision making through debates disguised as legal discourses”, the Constitutional Court notes.
