Donald Trump’s former Special Envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Grenell, asked the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, about the US State Department’s decision to declare several Albanian politicians “non-grata” in the USA.
By order of the US State Secretary, Anthony Blinken, the former PM of Albania, Sali Berisha, with his family, was barred from traveling to the USA as they were accused of corruption.
For Rama, this is an indicator that the US government will keep supporting the implementation of the judicial reform, which, according to the Albanian PM, has now reached a point of no return.
“It is sad watching this reality, but on the other hand, it is a clear signal that the US government is continuing with its efforts to push forward with the judicial reform that will transform the justice system in Albania, reaching a point of no return. This lets us understand that we have started a transition and impunity will come to an end. No one is above the law”, Rama declared.
