The Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhacka, received today her German Counterpart, Michael Roth, who is attending a two-day visit in Albania.

Xhacka thanked official Berlin for the commitment, not only during the EU presidency, but also for finding consensus within the EU regarding the approval of the Negotiation Framework and the holing of the first Intergovernmental Conference. She added that the visit of Minister Roth is another clear message of this commitment.

“We have done our homework. Things are going toward the right direction, even in the fight against corruption and organized crime. If you see the work done since the decision taken by the Council of March 2020, despite the fact that the past 15 months have been the most difficult in our history, you can understand how committed and responsible we are towards the integration process”, Xhacka declared in the bilateral meeting.

Roth reiterated the stance of Germany in supporting the conference with Albania and North Macedonia, expressing his will for this to happen within the Portuguese EU presidency.

As for the Bulgarian stalemate, he stressed that the EU is committed “to resolving all existing disputes as soon as possible” between Skopje and Sofia.
