The Albanian Health Ministry announced that after making 2652 tests in the past 24 hours, 179 persons have resulted positive with COVID-19.
Two people have died in the past 24 hours while 587 others have won the battle against the virus.
The Tirana COVID hospitals are currently treating 182 patients, 14 under intensive care and three are using ventilators.
The Head of the Albanian National Emergency, Skender Brataj, appealed to persons who have taken the first dose of the vaccine to be careful since there have been cases when they have been infected even after taking it.
“The illness was not caused by the vaccine for COVID-19, but the infection with SarsCov2. There have been cases with all types of vaccines. The immunity response after the first dose is not high enough to protect us from infections but from serious cases. The antibodies are produced in higher levels 7 to 10 days after the second dose. The vaccine reduces the infection and the severe cases, but if we get infected in the period between the first and second dose, the risk is much higher. We could get infected and get the COVID-19 disease in all of its shapes. Respecting the measures is necessary especially in this transitory period”, Brataj declared.
