Albanians are consuming less, scared by the pandemic. Recent data from the Institution of Statistics show that inflation in March was 1.2%, lower than the same period of one year ago when it reached 2.1%.
The annual price increase has been led by foods and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by the furniture, home equipment, and maintenance.
This means that the Albanian families are focused on food and home care, withdrawing from another spending.
The lower consumption has been ongoing for several months and it is due to the insecurity caused by the pandemic. But this has many consequences for the economy as well since consumption is one of the main sources of growth.
