The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) doesn’t support the candidacy of Vjosa Osmani for President. This stance was made public by the acting party leader, Enver Hoxhaj, after a meeting of the leadership. Hoxhaj didn’t specify whether his party MPs would be present at the inauguration ceremony.
“We are part of the opposition. Our profession is making political battles, not attending”, Hoxhaj declared.
The Minister did not explain the reasons behind this decision, but he said there have been long discussions on the matter.
It is clear that the meeting with Vjosa Osmani and the leader of the Self-Determination Movement, Albin Kurti, did not serve for anything.
This Friday, Kurti, and Osmani will meet the new leader of the Kosovo Democratic League, Lumik Abdixhiku, to discuss the creation of the country’s institutions. So far they have received support from the non-Serbian minorities.
The Constitution of Kosovo provides that the first round for appointing the President should have 80 votes from MPs, otherwise it will be invalid.
