Today has started the vaccination of teachers with the AstraZeneca vaccine. The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, and the Health Minister for Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, visited the “4 Deshmoret” school where the vaccination of 250 teachers started today. As of Monday it will be extended throughout the country.
The Minister added that besides teachers, they will keep vaccinating citizens more than 80-years-old. “Astrazeneca, as decided by the Committee of Vaccination, can be used for all ages”, Manastirliu declared.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared that a new batch of vaccines is expected soon.
“You went through a very hard period and you did sacrifice a lot. We know that the online teaching is not the same as in schools. This is why we want to relieve you from this issue the soonest possible. At least teachers, just like doctors and nurses, shouldn’t be affected by COVID-19. In a few days we are expecting another considerable amount of vaccines”.
The Head of the Infective Diseases Department, Silva Bino, underlined once again that AstroZeneca is a safe vaccine. “Even during clinical trials there haven’t been any issue”, Bino declared. “This is a massive and beautiful vaccination.”
