The Democratic Party of Albania requested the Central Electoral Commission to not allow former Socialist MP, Tom Doshi, to run for the next elections under the SDP (Social-Democratic Party).

“Tom Doshi is subject to the decriminalization law and he cannot attend these elections. Tom Doshi is not allowed to run, as he has been banned from travelling to the USA”, the DP stated in its request.

The SPD has responded with a press release. They state that not only Tom Doshi, who is the party leader, but all other candidates have been proposed based on the law.

“After the baseless accusations from the DP, driven by their fear to lose the April 25th elections, in which SPD aims to be an important factor in Albania’s politics, we would like to inform that every candidate in every district of our country is in full accordance with the Albanian Law. The SPD recognizes and respects the Constitution of Albania and the Albanian Laws”, says the declaration of the Social Democratic Party of Albania.
